If you want a video game that will hold you attention for hundreds of hours, you need to play an MMO. These massive open worlds offer a wealth of content that other genres simply can’t match. Not to mention the sense of community, the abundance of stories the games have to tell and the feeling of accomplishment that comes from starting at the bottom and working to become a revered character. If this all sounds like something you want to experience for yourself, then you need to check out these amazing MMO titles:
#1 – World of Warcraft
If you haven’t heard of the WoW series, where have you been hiding? Ever since the early 2000’s this title has been gradually expanding its enormous world. Each new game, expansion or major content patch has its own version of gaming logo. These logos reflect the content of the expansion. In every release of new versions, there will be new quests, raids, storylines, bosses, pets, loot and many other cool assets that make this game a joy to play. You can either jump into the classic game through WoW Classic or WoW TBC Classic. Or you can brave the newest expansion WoW Shadowlands, the journey is yours to choose, but we assure you. Whichever you choose, you will not be disappointed.
#2 – Old School Runescape
Now for another game that has been running for literally decades now and this longevity is down to one thing, quality. Runescape has transformed from a novelty browser game to a recognised, worldwide phenomenon with over 15 million active players. Whether you are haggling at the Grand Exchange, off on a slayer quest to take down the Alchemical Hydra or you are simply training one of your many skill trees, there is something riveting and addicting about every action you can take within this game. So if you like MMO’s be sure to give this one a try.
#3 – GTA Online
This MMO may not have the usual goblins, ghouls, swords and mana that most others do. However, it may be one of the best known and most respected MMO’s around for just that reason. This MMO basically allows you to play GTA with your friends, enjoy the chaotic sandbox that is Los Santos, try to complete heists and other missions to make bank and ultimately, become the King (or Queen) of Los Santos. GTAV has survived three generations of gaming and there is good reason for that. So be sure to check this one out.
#4 – Final Fantasy XIV
Then lastly, we have a game that didn’t fair well upon its initial release. However, thanks to consistent updates and a loyal, patient fan base. This Final Fantasy online experience has become one of the best modern MMO’s ever. In fact, recently there weren’t even enough digital copies to go around on the console stores, which was a first within gaming and gives you an idea of the demand to play this game. This is quintessential Final Fantasy brilliance and a game that you shouldn’t pass on.
